The Government Information Service (GIS) of Grenadaย  marked a transformative milestone today with the official switchover of its Flow cable networkย  channel 22 from Standard Definition (SD) to High Definition (HD) broadcasting. The event tookย  place at the GIS headquarters in the Ministerial Complex and featured remarks from Ms. Carlynย McQuilkin, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of National Security, Home Affairs, Publicย  Administration, Information and Disaster Management, alongside key partners such as Mr. Lincolnย  Baptiste, Country Manager of Flow Grenada.

In her remarks, Ms. McQuilkin underscored the significance of this upgrade as a reflection of theย  governmentโ€™s commitment to improving communication with its citizens. โ€œIn an era whereย  information is at the heart of governance, this transition to HD broadcasting represents a leapย  forward in our ability to deliver clear, reliable, and accessible content to every citizen,โ€ she said.ย  โ€œWhether they are at home, in the workplace, or part of our diaspora, Grenadians can now accessย  government information with the clarity and impact they deserve.โ€

The shift to HD broadcasting brings sharper visuals and enhanced sound quality to channel 22,ย  improving the delivery of public announcements, educational programming, and emergency alerts.ย  This enhancement ensures that government messages are more engaging and comprehensible,ย  strengthening the connection between the state and its people. The initiative is a key component ofย  Grenadaโ€™s broader vision for digital transformation and innovation in public service delivery.

Ms. McQuilkin also praised the collaborative efforts behind the project, noting, โ€œThe dedicated staffย  of GIS, under the leadership of Mr. Jason Phillip, and our partners at Flow Grenada, led by Mr.ย  Lincoln Baptiste, have worked tirelessly to achieve this milestone. Their work exemplifies the spiritย  of public service and the power of partnership.โ€

Referencing Prime Minister Dickon Mitchellโ€™s emphasis on โ€œputting people first,โ€ the Permanentย  Secretary highlighted that this upgrade prioritises the needs of Grenadians by providing them withย  top-quality information. โ€œToday, we ensure that every citizen has access to the highest standard ofย  communication, delivered with the care and precision they deserve,โ€ she concluded.

The Government of Grenada invites the public to tune in to channel 22 to experience this enhancedย  viewing quality firsthand and anticipates further advancements in communication technology toย  better serve the nation.
