The Government of Grenada has sent out a release expressing concern about an incident between a Grenadian crew aboard a cargo vessel and members of the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard last Wednesday.

Having been made aware of the violent encounter, the Consular and Trade Office in Trinidad immediately dispatched a letter to the Coast Guard, seeking information on the matter.

The Grenada Government has also obtained reports from crew members on the vessel, which it has shared with the Coast Guard.

It says it’s yet to receive a response to the letter dated March 3, 2022.

It has since been announced that the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard is conducting an investigation into the incident.

In following the development surrounding this issue it’s understood that the TNT Coast Guard officers from the Interceptor crew who were involved in the confrontation that left a Grenadian captain and a crew member seriously injured have been sent on leave.
