During the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Facilitation Conference, Honourable Dickon Mitchell, Prime Minister and Minister for Civil Aviation, signed the second of two Air Services Agreements between Grenada and the State of Qatar. This historic agreement is the culmination of what began in 2023, when Grenada signed an MOU with Qatar to establish this bilateral Air Services Agreement.
The agreement was signed in Doha, Qatar, on April 14, by Hon. Dickon Mitchell and Minister for Transport, H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Mohammed Al Thani, representing the State of Qatar.
This agreement will allow Grenada and the State of Qatar to improve their ability to provide seamless travel and trade between both countries through direct flights and codeshare agreements.
The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation to Mr. Marlon Carter for the hard work he has been doing as the lone civil aviation officer within the Ministry of Infrastructure, Civil Aviation and Transportation. He further highlighted that the signing of this agreement will enhance the partnership and collaboration between Grenada and the State of Qatar.
“Today’s signing marks the culmination of two and a half years of hard work and provides an opportunity for us to pursue direct flights between the Gulf States and Grenada and the rest of the Caribbean region,” the prime minister remarked.
These Air Service Agreements with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Qatar align with Grenada’s broader vision to modernise its air transport industry, open new markets and enhance its position as a regional aviation hub.
