Grenada is being prompted to enhance its Disaster Risk Reduction Strategy, with the understanding that the region is entering the most active part of the 2020 Atlantic hurricane season.

With the likelihood of three to six storms developing into major hurricanes, a number of wardens are currently deployed to ensure the cutting of over-the-road hangings of shrubbery and drains to be properly cleared.

This is according to the Minister responsible for Disaster Management and NaDMA, Senator Winston Garraway, who made a presentation at a meeting in the Upper House yesterday.

He says the undertaking is all part of efforts to protect the environment.

Garraway is off the view that such ventures relative to care for the environment require a holistic approach, and he called upon citizens to get involved.
