The Grenada Public Workers’ Union (GPWU) is celebrating its 90th anniversary this week under the theme “Empowering Workers to Safeguard Their Rights and Build Union Power”.

The GPWU is a public service sector trade union, representing the interests of workers in Grenada, Carriacou and Petit Martinique.

The week of activities began last Sunday with a Church service at the St. Andrew’s Apostle RC Church and an address by PWU President, Brian Grimes, yesterday, which highlighted the struggles of the workers over the years.

Grimes spoke of issues surrounding contract workers.

In an interview with Wee Fm News Desk this afternoon, Grimes spoke about activities set out for the remainder of the week.
