Word reaching us is that Grenada is actively engaged in discussion surrounding the 35th Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer (MOP 35).
Delegates attending are at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya.
Grenada is represented by Minister Kerryne James, under whose portfolio Climate Resilience, the Environment and Renewable Energy falls, and National Ozone Unit Project Officer, Leslie Smith.

Smith has co-chaired a contact group dealing with potential areas of focus for the 2026 quadrennial reports of the Assessment Panels
Smith and members of his group have met and held discussion on submissions from the European Union on the terms of reference in this regard.
Among other things, the meeting which comes to a close tomorrow looked at advances in collecting information about the planet’s atmospheric, oceanic, and terrestrial systems.
One group, it’s said, held discussion on a proposal submitted by the United States.
The proposal looked at the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic by deferring any consideration of the compliance status for listed eligible parties with regard to control measures for their Hydrofloro-Carbon Consumption (HFC).
The Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer came into effect in 1989 and now has universal ratification.
