PR – The Government of Grenada and the Government of Nepal have formally established diplomatic relations, effective September 14, 2026, marking a new chapter in relations between the two countries.
The establishment of diplomatic relations reflects the shared desire of Grenada and Nepal to strengthen ties of friendship and cooperation and advance areas of mutual interest for the benefit of both nations.
The relationship is guided by the principles and objectives of the Charter of the United Nations and international law, including respect for national sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity, equality among states, non-interference in internal affairs, and the promotion of international peace and security.
The Joint Communiqué establishing diplomatic relations was signed in New York by Honourable Dennis Cornwall, Grenada’s Minister for Finance and Hon. Shisir Khanal, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nepal.
The establishment of diplomatic relations provides a formal framework for both countries to deepen dialogue, explore opportunities for bilateral cooperation, and collaborate on issues of shared interest at the international level.
This new relationship also forms part of Grenada’s continued efforts to broaden its diplomatic engagement, build new international partnerships and strengthen cooperation with countries across the global community.
Grenada looks forward to building a productive and mutually beneficial relationship with Nepal and identifying opportunities for greater engagement between the two countries and their peoples.
