Grenada is one of five CARPHA Member countries to benefit from a Public Health Audio Campaign.

This is being set up through an agreement between the regional institution and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) for the implementation of the Global Programme Digital Transformation in the Caribbean Region.

Financing runs in the range of some 149,976 Euros.

This was based on CARPHA’s proposal developed in April last year relating to capacity development for audio messaging as a tool for community outreach to improve health-seeking behaviors in the Caribbean.

The overall objective is to improve access to public health education in the CARPHA Member States and Audiopedia, an open-source audible learning platform, will be used and customized inthe regional context by integrating content on priority public health diseases for sensitization on COVID-19 vaccination, non-communicable diseases, HIV/AIDS and water, sanitation, and hygiene.

Apart from Grenada, other countries to benefit from the programme are Barbados, Belize, Curacao and Trinidad and Tobago.

Dr. Joy St. John, Executive Director of CARPHA, says “Using a train-the-trainer approach, CARPHA will support the creation of a Caribbean Public Health Audio Campaign to develop credible, clear, and timely public health messages.
