Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Shawn Charles, says Grenada is experiencing an outbreak of acute gastroenteritis, as well as noticing high numbers of acute respiratory infection.
Dr. Charles made the disclosure at the Government’s News Conference this morning, saying that most cases have been reported in the areas of St. George, St. Andrew and the Sister Isles.
The condition he says is characterized by nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps and watery diarrhea.
Some individuals may experience fever and muscle pain…symptoms which generally last 1 to 3 days.
Dr. Charles explains how the disease is transmitted.
The public is advised to take measures to prevent the occurrence of the disease.
The Chief Medical Officer also informed the public of high numbers of acute respiratory infection have been reported since the start of the year.
