The Grenada Government, considering the impact of COVID-19 on the country and its people, today received approval for what’s dubbed a 54.9 million dollar supplementary Budget.

Finance Minister, Gregory Bowen, presented a motion in the Lower House Parliamentary chamber in this regard.

It’s being prompted in view of circumstances surrounding the impact of COVID-19.

The COVID-19 pandemic has taken a toll on the country’s economy, and, according to the Finance Minister, the fiscal situation remains fragile.

Bowen says the supplementary estimates are vital at this time of the COVID Health experience.

Among other things, the Supplementary Estimates will also account for the Stimulus package which was launched this week, as a COVID relief measure.

15 million dollars have been earmarked for this programme.

On this score the Opposition Leader, Tobias Clement, had this to say.
