The Grenada Government is to provide a one million-dollar donation, in support for the Government and people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, now battling with the woes created by the eruption of the La Soufriere volcano.
Prime Minister, Dr. the Rt. Hon. Keith Mitchell confirmed that his Cabinet colleagues unanimously supported the proposal to help the neighboring country, despite the fiscal challenges Grenada now faces.
Grenada initially pledged to accept hundreds of Vincentian evacuees, however, at an OECS Authority emergency meeting this week, Vincentian Prime Minister, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, advised of a general reluctance among Vincentians to relocate to other countries.
It is against this backdrop countries have now started looking at alternative means of providing support for the Government and people of St. Vincent.
