In an collaborative effort Soroptimist International of the Caribbean is partnering with the non-profit organization, “Free the Slaves” in what’s seen as an attempt to bring awareness on the scourge of human trafficking and its atrocities.
A regional sensitization drive is currently underway with Grenada on the list of visited countries, together with Barbados, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and St. Lucia.
Major forms of Trafficking in Persons (TIP) in the region include commercial sexual exploitation of women and children, and labor trafficking within national borders.
Advocacy and Movement-Building Country Manager of “Free the Slaves” in Trinidad and Tobago, Adrian Alexander, recently met with top officials in Grenada on the subject.
