Grenada is one of several Caribbean islands involved in a local pilot project being done to look at the benefits of insect farming as a source of animal feed in the region.

A statement from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) says it has partnered with the University of the West Indies (UWI) and Fera Science Limited to develop the regional pilot project.

The initiative will seek to showcase the value of insect farming and provide the catalyst for a series of community projects focused on creating sustainable animal feed from organic wastes.
