Grenada and other OECS countries are looking forward to the celebration this year of the sub-region’s 40th anniversary an integrated economic bloc.

The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) came into being June 18th 1981, when seven Eastern Caribbean countries signed the treaty of Basseterre agreeing to cooperate with each other and promote unity and solidarity among Members.

In preparing for activities marking the occasion, there was an official launch today via the virtual platform.

It presented an overview of the planned events, as well as highlighted the theme and logo for the 40th OECS Anniversary celebration.

OECS Director General, Dr. Didacus Jules, sees the celebrations as another stepping stone to the organization’s quest confronting the challenges ahead for a better tomorrow.

Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) Timothy Antoine, in extending congratulations to the organization, believes such integration presents immense opportunities for sustainable growth and prosperity for OECS Member States.
