Today  June 7 Is being observed as World Food Safety Day, aimed at inspiring UN member nations to prioritize food safety standards and work collaboratively to protect consumers from food-borne diseases.

The theme of this year’s observance is “Food Standards Save Lives”.

Minister of State with responsibility for Agriculture and Lands, Fisheries and Co-operatives, Senator Adrian Thomas, says the change in climate and the fast pace at which countries are being developed are having an impact on our foods.

Senator Thomas says food safety must always be at the top of the priority list, in an effort to save lives.
