Preparation is underway for the re-opening of Parliament, with regard to the beginning of the second session of the 11th Grenada Parliament, as the Constitution allows.

A notice on the Parliamentary website shows that the upcoming occasion, will include the customary official Ceremony, to take place on the 26th of September, 2023, at the Parliament building, in Mt. Wheldale.

The occasion usually produces moments of pomp and flare, with the Governor General playing a key role, including participation in the brief military processes, where she inspects guards of honour from within the RGPF parade.

And, later with effect to the opening, the Governor General is to outline the Government’s plans and programmes for the ensuing year, in what’s traditionally labeled as the “Throne Speech”.

It makes way for the presentation of the 2024 budget, at an appointed time, in accordance with plans by the ruling administration for the country’s development.

It must be remembered that the re-opening of Parliament comes, after both houses went on recess, on account of the process of prorogation.
