Grenada Records Its First House Fire For The New Year Leaving A Family Of 4 Homeless

A family of four is today homeless because of a fire last night in the Beausejour Gardens housing scheme in the Granville Vale area.

Reports reaching us show that no one was home at the time of the blaze.

The Fire crew is said to have responded promptly, and, on arrival, firefighters saw the building already engulfed

GRENLEC is also reported to have responded promptly to secure power lines.

We are told that everything contained in the three bedroom wall structure was completely demolished.

One source visiting the scene says the family lost everything.

The cost associated with the damage runs in the range of 300,000 EC dollars.

Police are investigating.

The fire occurred at around 7.15pm.

The house was occupied by Martin Alexander, a teacher at the Grenada Boys Secondary School.

The Ministry of Education, including the Education Minister, Emmalin Pierre, says they are willing to offer support to Martin and his family.
