Grenada yesterday remembered the occasion 38 years ago when intervention forces from the United States and the Caribbean came to its rescue, after turmoil which forced the fall of the People’s Revolutionary Government.
A National Thanksgiving Service was held at the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, in commemoration of Thanksgiving Day, staged virtually, in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Streams of Hope in Perilous Times” was the theme for the National Service.
Government Minister, Gregory Bowen, noted the resilience of the Grenadian people who have memorable experiences learning to live through perilous times and are thankful to God.
Bowen says reflection of the sacrifices made by many coming to the aid of Grenada 38 years ago remain etched in the memory of citizens, with a ray of hope for a sustainable future.
US Charge’De Affaires, Carl Duckworth, says his heart and prayers are with the Grenadian people, considering the country’s battle today with the COVID situation.
Reflecting on the 38th Thanksgiving anniversary, noting that the common sacrifices and partnership Grenada and the US shared are cause for gratitude.
The United States says it shares a commitment to the health and well-being of the Grenadian people.
US Charge’De Affairs, Carl Duckworth, noted that Grenada was the beneficiary of the visit here of the US hospital Ship as well as the setting up of 2 Emergency Operation Centers to enhance Grenada’s crisis response.
Archdeacon Michael Marshall of the Anglican Church speaks of the need for Nations to have faith in God, even as they go through perilous times, as Grenada, as well as the rest of the World has experienced over the decades.
Reverend Marshall sent out a reminder that God cares about every aspect of our lives.
