In case you missed it, Grenada will have high-level representation at Saturday’s monarchial ceremony in England at the coronation of King Charles the 3rd and his wife, Queen Camilla.

Charles acceded to the throne on 8 September 2022, upon the death of his mother, Elizabeth the second.

Governor General, Her Excellency Dame Cecile La Grenade, the King’s representative here and Prime Minister, Dickon Mitchell, left Grenada yesterday to attend the coronation.

The Grenada delegation will also include this country’s resident High Commissioner in the United Kingdom, Her Excellency Kisha Abba Grant; Victoria Cross Recipient, Sergeant Major Johnson Beharry, and National athletes Afy Fletcher and Lindon Victor, among other prominent Grenadians resident in the United Kingdom.

The Governor General and Prime Minister are also expected to attend a reception with His Majesty King Charles III during the visit.

The delegation will return home Sunday, May 7, 2023.

Meantime, Senator Dr. Dessima M. Williams, President of the Senate, has been appointed as Deputy Governor General in the absence of Her Excellency Dame Cécile La Grenade.

Minister for Social and Community Development, Housing and Gender Affairs with responsibility for Community Development and Housing, Philip Telesford, has been appointed Acting Prime Minister in the absence of Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell.
