Grenada is currently represented at the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) meetings, which are taking place in Marrakech, Morocco.

The 2023 Meetings focuses on what it will take to end poverty on a livable planet and on the new playbook that’s required to respond to intertwined global challenges.

These discussions are set to conclude on Sunday.

Grenada’s Finance Minister Hon. Dennis Cornwall and Chevanne Britton who’s serving as Deputy Permanent Secretary in the ministry of finance are the participants.

Minister Cornwall is expected to be one of the participants at both the Commonwealth Finance Ministers’ meeting and the IMF Caribbean Ministerial Meeting.

The meetings are set to bring together over 12,000 participants, comprising 190 delegations led by finance ministers and central bankers, including Timothy Antoine, the Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB), as well as private sector executives worldwide.

This marks the first annual meeting hosted by an African country in half a century.

The event will feature the release of the annual World Economic Outlook by the IMF and will include discussion sessions addressing critical global issues, including the energy crisis, climate change, regional conflicts, post-pandemic recovery, and potential solutions, with a particular focus on the needs of developing nations.
