Grenada Resilience Improvement Project GRIP: Mid-Term Review

The Grenada Resilience Improvement Project GRIP kicked off its Mid Term Review (MTR) from Tuesday 22nd April 2025 at the Kirani James Athletic Stadium, West Conference Room.

This Mission is a critical one as the project nears the start of infrastructural works. The project sites are the Balthazar Bridge, Soubise and Marquis coastline with focus also on Greater Grenville. The project also has a component on the Road Assessment Management (RAM) which is to support and improve the islandโ€™s road network.

The participants of the four (4) day review are the World Bank team with responsibility for GRIP, the Project Management Team of GRIP, the Ministry of Mobilisation, Implementation and Transformation, Ministry of Infrastructure et. al, Ministry of Finance, Beston Consulting, Alpha Engineering, Satra Services and other key collaborating stakeholders.

Task Team Lead, Jared Mercadante, Senior Disaster Risk Management Specialist opened the review with an update on the achievements of the project to date and the next steps for the MTR. He highlighted the upgrade of the project to being satisfactory by the World Bank.

Dr. Kelvin George, Project Manager โ€“ GRIP, in his presentation, stated the activities of the components of the projects completed. He provided an overview of the status of the project and the focus of the PMT to keep within the expected delivery timeline.

A media opportunity will be facilitated on Wednesday 23rd at the MTR venue to provide the public with a status report of the project. The participants will also do a field visit to the three (3) project sites (Balthazar Bridge, Soubise Coastline, Marquis Bay)on Thursday 24th April. The GRIP mission will end on Friday 25th April 2025.

GRIP is a 15 Million USD project of the Government of Grenada funded by the World Bank and is implemented by the Ministry of Mobilisation, Implementation & Transformation (MIT). The projects aim is to build Grenadaโ€™s resilience to climate and disasters by building capacity in the environment through mitigation and disaster management.
