“Water is the lifeblood of agriculture”!
This acknowledgement by Senator Adrian Thomas the Grenada Ministerial representative under whose portfolio agriculture falls.
He made the pronouncement addressing the Nation on the occasion of World Food Day yesterday, emphasizing the theme “Water is Food, Water is Life, Leave no one Behind”.
It falls on the notion of necessitating “Safe Food Today for a Healthy Tomorrow,” highlighting the critical role of water for life on earth and water as the foundation of food.
The idea is to raise global awareness about the importance of managing water wisely as rapid population growth; economic development, urbanization, and climate change threaten water availability.
Senator Thomas drives home the point.
The Agriculture Minister speaks of the Government’s commitment of leaving no one behind in the pursuits of water and food security.
The address by Mr. Thomas ushered in activities by the Ministry of Agriculture in the observance of the yearly World Food Day designation by the United Nations, most of which will be centered on creating awareness about the need to produce safe food for the country’s citizens.
The activities culminate with an agricultural expo in St. Andrew on Friday.
