Grenada’s Prime Minister Hon. Dickon Mitchell, has made an impassioned plea at the 78th session of the United Nations general assembly, to take decisive action to safe guard the planet against climate change.
Addressing heads of the 193 members of the UN body last Friday, Prime Minister Mitchell said with the likely occurrence of a climate disaster of some kind in one or several of the member states, there is urgent need for a redoubling of efforts on climate action.
Prime Minister Mitchell added that this year’s climate ambition summit which was recently held in New York, presented the opportunity for government leaders and partners to present concrete action, to keep the 1.5 degree Celsius goal of the Paris agreement alive.
Prime Minister Mitchell emphasized that Grenada is doing its part through the implementation of policy frameworks, like the national climate change policy and the national adaption plan.
He said now is the time for global action to safe guard the planet.
