The COVID-19 pandemic formed the crux of talks today 5th  Sitting of the OECS Assembly which took place virtually.

The Grenada delegation was headed by Prime Minister, Dr. the Rt. Hon. Keith Mitchell and among others, included Tourism Minister, Dr. Clarice Modeste Curwen.

Speaking about relative issues and today’s COVID times where there’s a willingness to reboot, she noted that Small Island Developing States, which usually depend on the sector are being challenged, especially when it boils down to vaccination.

Dr. Modeste specifically made mention of challenges pertaining to what she termed “vaccine inequities” as it relates to distribution, and vaccine hesitancy, on the basis of misinformation.

Dr. Modeste-Curwen echoes the sentiments of the WHO Director General, Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus, noting the importance of regional co-operation in the fight against the pandemic.
