Grenada’s Soca Sensation, Elimus “Inspector” Gilbert, doesn’t take kindly to criticism that older career artistes who are still engaged in the competitive spirit must give way to youngsters in the business.
This has been a recurring conversation about the artform.
Inspector who came through the ranks as early as the junior Calypso Monarch competition on the old Queen’s Park stage remains relevant as a crowd pleaser, having the pleasure already behind his name of winning all the major titles.
He finds time to respond to criticism on social media that artistes like himself, in the business for quite some time, must now give way.
Inspector is fuming that young and upcoming artistes need encouragement in helping to enhance their craft and not criticism dismissing the old for the new, when, in fact, there’s a lot to be learnt to sustain the art form.
