Health officials are cautioning that we are at a high risk of catching and transmitting the Covid 19 virus because many individuals are letting their guards down.

Over the past few months it’s been observed that many persons are not wearing their mask and not practicing any of the protocols put in place to curb the virus.

So far, statistics show that Grenada has been doing well in keeping the COVID-19 virus at bay.

Health Minister, Nickolas Steele, speaking at the government’s weekly post-cabinet briefing, indicated that with the new protocols in place more individuals are coming into Grenada, and, as such, citizens must remain vigilant and get vaccinated.

Minister Steele says the sooner we get vaccinated the sooner we get back to some form of normalcy.

Superintendent of Police, Vannie Curwen, also speaking at the post-cabinet briefing this morning, says law officials will be enforcing the regulation, especially as it relates to mask-wearing.

According to applicable law, there are fines for non-compliance of COVID protocols.

The COVID-19 State of Emergency Regulations stipulates that any persons charged under the regulations is liable to be charged 1,000 EC dollars or 12 months imprisonment.
