On the observance of Solidarity Week, the Grenada Trades Union Council (GTUC) designated activities today in “Solidarity with Cuba”.

The GTUC has organized a special activity for today, which should be underway at this time, carded for 5pm.

It’s at the Public Workers’ Union Headquarters and will be attended by the Cuban Ambassador to Grenada, Maria Caridad Balaguer La Brada.

The celebrations which began yesterday with a church service will continue through Saturday, highlighting the worker’s movement.

The Trades Union Council says emphasis will be placed on creating awareness regarding the present socio-economic and political situations confronting workers, as well as a reflection on the work of its affiliates.

The Labour movement sees it as a matter of charting the way forward.

Solidarity Week activities are observed under the theme “Safe Guarding Workers’ Interest in a period of Economic Hardship and Structural Adjustment.
