Meantime, with the roll-out of the ECCB’s innovative DCASH initiative, the Grenada Union of Teachers Credit Union (GUT-CU) is considered making history, being the first credit union in the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU) to be DCash-ready.

The DCASH project is still in the closed pilot phase and there’s a high level of monitoring being conducted checking out its efficiency.

DCASH is a digital version of the EC dollar to be issued under the authority of the (ECCB), and is set to transform the way business is conducted in the ECCU member territories.

General Manager of the Grenada Union of Teachers Credit Union, Retesha Boyd, validated the credit union’s readiness completing a purchase of goods at the Foodland Supermarket (Kirani James Blvd).

Boyd says as the GUT-CU leads in the innovation and driven by change in the financial market, it’s important that its members have convenient and secure ways of doing business.

The GUT Credit Union is said to be waiting with excitement for the time when the service can be rolled out to the Grenadian public and within the other ECCU member countries.
