Minister for health, wellness and religious affairs Sen. The hon. Jonathan La Crette, yesterday made a special appeal to nurses to extend their years of service, to allow this new Government the opportunity to address their concerns.

Sen. La Crette was at the time making his contribution, debating the 2023 Budget.

Sen. La Crette says the health sector will be crippled in the not too distant future without the assistance of the nurses and their experience.

Sen. La Crette added that plans are afoot to address matters pertaining to other workers in the health care sector.

As it relates to the honorarium that was announce for nurses beginning in January next year, the health minister told the Upper House it’s the Government’s way of trying to deter a mass exodus of nurses from the island.
