Meantime, Health officials believe Grenada is better able to monitor and execute its COVID response.

That’s according to Acting Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Shawn Charles who was this morning engaging reporters in another in the series of Government’s Post Cabinet Briefing.

The CMO says, Grenada now has the capacity to conduct genetic sequencing.

With eleven cases of the Omicron variant detected on island in recent days, the Acting CMO sees this as a significant achievement for Grenada in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Charles also noted that research on the Omicron variant shows that although it’s not as deadly, it is spread at a quicker rate and much easier than the Delta variant.
