The Ministry Of Health here is confirming that dengue is on the rise and, the Epidemiology department is currently investigating the stereo-types of Dengue causing an outbreak on island.
Acting Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Shawn Charles, says they’re concerned about the growing increase in cases.
There’s talk of people being affected with dengue, with fifty-two percent being males.
The virus which is spread by the bite of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito carries symptoms of fever, headaches, muscle, joint and abdominal pains.
Dr. Charles, who’s also a top-ranking regional Epidemiologist, says there’ve been confirmed cases across communities.
Dr. Charles reiterates the importance of keeping the surroundings clean to reduce the population of the mosquitoes thus curbing the spread of the disease.
