After almost eight hours of deliberation, the Grenada High Court today rejected moves by Attorney James Bristol, to stop the Constitutional Reform Referendum from taking place.
Bristol had filed courts papers in this regard, acting on behalf of Carriacou resident, Valerie Thompson-Duncan.
Matters before Justice Wynante Roberts related to deficiencies in the conduct of processes for the referendum.
The crux of the matter related to the manner in which the publications were displayed in the newspapers…bills not attached to the writs, regarding constitutionality, as the application implied…which specifically did not put the date of the referendum in perspective.
The application for an injunction to stop the referendum was rejected and the judge ruled in favour of the constitution reform advisory committee.
The vote will go ahead Thursday as scheduled.
