The Ministry of Education, Human Resource Development, Religious Affairs and Information regrets to inform the public that, in keeping with guidance from the Ministry of Health, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, schools will not be allowed to host the traditional graduation ceremony, between now and the end of August 2020.
However, a school can choose to have a deferred ceremony, anytime in the upcoming academic year, once approval is received from the Ministry of Health. Accordingly, approval has been granted for the hosting of Grade 6 and Form 5 ceremonies, with a gathering of no more than twenty (20) persons, inclusive of those providing technical services.
The Ministry will make a ZOOM facility available by scheduling, to schools wishing to livestream the ceremony to graduands and invitees. This facility will allow a maximum of four hundred (400) people to view the ceremony.
Schools which choose to video stream their ceremony, should apply to the Ministry, at least two (2) weeks before the scheduled date. There must be a written commitment, to adhere to the existing COVID-19 guidelines and protocol.
This Ministry thanks all stakeholders for their kind understanding and cooperation in this regard.
