House Of Representatives Pass Motion Officially Removing Covid Restrictions

The Grenada House of Representatives today repealed the Quarantine Act officially bringing the removal of what can be considered as the last bastion of COVID restrictions, surrounding the prowess of the pandemic.

This, as the country seeks getting back to some form of normalcy, taking into account its economic status and the view that the society has to learn to live with the virus, which, by all reports, continues hovering around regions the World over.

During debate on the motion in Parliament today, MP’s called upon citizens to take personal responsibility for their actions in the quest to safeguard themselves against the virus.

Health Minister, Nikolas Steele, in his contribution, urged citizens to do what’s necessary to protect themselves and avoid taking risks.

Tourism Minister, Dr. Clarice Modeste, says Grenada has done exceedingly well and is proud of all the actors who helped in the process, reaching this point.

The MP for St. Patrick’s West, Anthony Boatswain, an economist, says there are economic considerations, one of the debilitating effect of COVID-19 that tends to cripple the well-being of countries.

Prime Minister, Dr. Keith Mitchell, says Grenada has come a long way in its fight against the pandemic, and by now, there ought to be a thorough understanding about its effects on the citizenry and the country as a whole.

He warns that while there’s need for the easement, Grenada and the rest of the World are not yet out of the woods, since COVID is still alive and people ought to protect themselves likewise.

Dr. Mitchell speaks of being alarmed to see the stagnation in the rate of vaccinations relative to recent reports and issues a reminder that it’s the perfect ingredient when it comes to protecting oneself.

He calls on citizens to get vaccinated.
