Improved Airlift On The Cards For Grenada-Carriacou Route

0

Minister for tourism, Dr. Clarice Modeste, substantiates that plans are well underway to improve airlift service between mainland Grenada and the sister isles of Carriacou and Petite Martinique.

Making her contribution on the 2022 Budget last week,

Dr. Modeste noted that talks have commenced between the Government and the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority (ECCAA) to discuss the possibility of investing in a larger aircraft to service the route.

SVG Air has been operating between the islands for years but with the onset of COVID-19, the airline only offered chartered service between the islands, which is said to be a more expensive exercise.

The Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority is currently reviewing the proposal put forward by the government to upgrade from a nine-seater to a 19-seater twin otter aircraft.

Dr. Modeste says they’re holding out hopes for a positive feedback.
