The Meteorological Office at the Maurice Bishop International Airport (MBIA) issues a warning concerning increased levels of Saharan dust expected to affect the Grenada.

According to the weather bulletin, a plume of Saharan Dust is expected to travel across the South Eastern Caribbean over the next few days.

Though the advisory speaks of minimal impact, Met Office Forecaster, Andre Charles, highlights that conditions can change over time. And, with the possibility that a 24-hour exposure can lead to moderate health concerns, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Francis Martin, is encouraging vulnerable groups of persons to have their medications available.

It’s also advisable that persons with respiratory conditions should avoid being outdoors as much as possible.

The National Disaster Management Agency (NaDMA) is also advising individuals to use every precautionary measure to guard against the harmful effects of prevailing atmospheric conditions.
