Grenada getting into the Independence mood 2021, despite a different formation forced on the country by COVID-19!

With activities launched, the atmosphere appears to be generating the feeling of the anniversary’s symbolic significance.

REPORT:

With Grenada shaping up for Independence celebrations, the mood this year is not as evident as in previous years, with a potential damper on any extensive scale of activities.

The COVID-pandemic, which fell upon the country last year about a month after Independence celebrations, is the cause for the somewhat low-keyed momentum this year, which has put the organizers to think of alternative ways to showcase Grenada, independent for 47 years.

None-the-less, activities have been launched and there’s every effort for the public to get a taste of what’s in store…the calypso competition, concerts, the Made in Grenada extravaganza, the Independence Day parade and much more associated with the function.

The social media platform is expected to play a great part in the process, so as to wet the patriotic appetite of Nationals, even in the area of the Grenada diaspora.

Currently, in dealing with the alternative process and in countering what has been laid on us through COVID-19, the feeling of Grenada’s 47th anniversary of Independence is in the air, and as a resilient people, it’s recognized that the people-to-people spirit of the occasion is not daunted.

It’s clear to see that Grenada is being decorated in its Independence colours, one aspect that would always present a signal that the celebration is near.

Throughout the country there are buntings of the red, green and gold in many esthetically-presented shape and fashion, in several areas…government buildings, round-a-bouts, schools etc., which we know over the years, is the glow associated with the anniversary.

The decorators are usually out at odds times on the highways and bi-ways climbing poles and ladders erecting what we know moreso to be a key symbol that Grenada is once again celebrating another year as an Independent Nation.
