With the excellent relationship existing between Grenada and Japan, the two countries yesterday signed an agreement that will help clean up the sagassum sea weed that’s usually lodged in Grenada’s waters.
The grant aid, to the tune of 1.8 million US dollars, will be allocated to the Ministry of Fisheries for the purchase of equipment and machinery to help in eradicating the sargassum from our shores.
The Japanese Grant aid falls under Grenada’s economic and social development programme.

Hirayama says he understands the horrors Grenada and other small islands are going through in dealing with COVID-19, providing all-the-more reason for his Government to help where it can.

Signing the agreement on behalf of Grenada is Foreign Minister, Oliver Joseph, who says the relationship between the two countries has grown from strength-to-strength over the years.
Joseph says at this juncture punctuated with the troubles existing with the COVID pandemic, the Japanese grant aid becomes necessary.
