Delron  Felix and  Kimberly  Ince will represent  Grenada in Swimming at next month’s 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.

The COVID-19 global pandemic led to the cancelation of the initial staging of the 2020 Olympics.   Athletes throughout the world were left in limbo and unsure of their athletic future.   The global lockdown posed obvious challenges for the continuation of training and athletes had to dig deep within to remain motivated.

Our athletes were no exception.  Kimberly Ince had to adapt to online learning at a critical stage of Secondary School as she entered FORM 5 at St.  Josephs Convent St. George’s while Delron juggled the responsibilities of work in an uncertain environment.    The training was not without challenges during the periods of partial lockdowns and limited access to a  training pool.   Despite the many obstacles faced they were successful in their selection for universality places to represent Grenada on the highest swimming stage.

Delron Felix will compete in the Men’s 100M Freestyle while Kimberly Ince will compete in the  Women’s 100M Backstroke.  Swimming events start on July 24th.  We extend congratulations to our swimmers as they continue on their final leg of preparation for Tokyo 2020.
