A call has been made for policy makers to find alternative ways to handle sexual crimes among minors.

The call comes from local Attorney at law Jerry Edwin.

Edwin was speaking to members of the media last Friday on the backdrop of a sexual case which involved two minors at the time.

The incident is said to have taken place over five years and has been through the high court system for the duration.

The laws of Grenada states that a person who has sexual intercourse with another person who is thirteen years of age or more but has not attained the age of sixteen years, whether with or without his consent, commits an offense and is liable on conviction on indictment to a term of imprisonment not exceeding fifteen years.

Attorney at law Jerry Edwin says policy makers should find alternative ways to handle sexual crimes among minors.
