Legislation for the National Health Insurance Programme (NHI) regulations is expected to be brought to the Grenada cabinet for approval soon.
That’s according to Health Minister Nicholas Steele who was at the time engaging individuals in the Diaspora last week.
The Government of Grenada reportedly signed a nine-month contract with a Miami-based firm, the Joint Independent Provider Association, (JIPA) to complete the process of development for implementation of the NHI.
JIPA is headed by Grenadian-born and USA-trained neurologist, Dr. Kester Nedd.
The agreement which took effect 29th October 2019 is seen as a “game-changer for the healthcare system here.
Steele says the NHI plan, soon to become a reality, is an equitable programme.
