LIVESTOCK FARMERS IN CARRIACOU RECEIVE TRAINING

0

The Sister aisle Of Carriacou is currently hosting a workshop for livestock farmers.

It’s put on by the Division of Agriculture within the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government, all part of forging ahead with plans to make Carriacou the Centre of Excellence for Small Ruminants’ Production.

The Division of Agriculture has partnered with the Climate Smart Agriculture and Rural Enterprise Programme (SAEP) for the training, which includes both theoretical and practical sessions.

Retired Livestock Officer, Nugent Bernard, is the facilitator.

In his opening remarks he noted that Carriacou remains a good place for small ruminant production, as there is great potential to meet national food and nutrition security.

The practical session will be held at the Limlair Livestock Station.

Meanwhile, to improve on the services they provide to the public, it’s reported that work is being done to upgrade the agricultural stations on the island, namely the Limlair Livestock Station and the Belair Nursery.
