A pioneering initiative has been making waves, over the past four months, aimed at bolstering the capacity of local and regional Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), empowering them to better serve their communities.
CSOs are non-governmental agencies, dedicated to addressing various social, environmental, or humanitarian issues, and actively engage in activities such as advocacy and community development.
Since July, representatives of the CSOs have been participating in the Grenada Plus Guyana CSO Capacity Building Programme, a crucial part of the broader initiatives by the Grenada Spotlight Initiative to combat violence against women and girls.
CSO member, Shakey Cornwall, emphasized the achievements of the online programme, underlining how it has equipped CSOs with invaluable skills, ensuring their long-term sustainability, particularly in the recruitment of board members.

Cassandra Mitchell, Programme Manager at the Caribbean Association for Youth Development, noted that templates were shared with participants, allowing for more standardization and improved documentation.
Mitchell further emphasized that the programme has also bolstered another critical aspect of sustainability, w3hich is fundraising.
