As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the hardship it has caused in many sectors of the economy, a call has been made for the public to support local farmers by purchasing and consuming more locally-produced foods.

Matthew Phillip, a farmer from Snell Hall, St Patrick, in an interview with Wee-Fm News Desk today, is anticipating that Grenadians will consume more local produce now, more than ever before.

This, he says will provide encouragement for farmers as they have lost most of their markets, due to the pandemic.

Phillip thinks more could be done to alleviate their woes.

Like the whole business of food security, Phillip is calling for the promotion of healthy food consumption.
