Notable River Sallee, St Patrick, Food and livestock farmer, Raphael Daly, complains of challenges being experienced in these times of drought conditions as a “heavy burden” to bear.

The water shortage due to the lengthy dry spells over the past few months has prompted the water supply company, NAWASA, to implement restrictions.

Normally in dry spells when water becomes scarce in catchment areas, farmers would usually turn to the taps, but now NAWASA says it’s not advisable and has imposed restrictions.

Daly, currently struggling to keep his crops alive, says with the restrictions imposed, it’s estimated that he could lose over three thousand dollars’ worth of produce.

The River Sallee, St Patrick, farmer says the restrictions of water usage are not helping the situation.

Daly tells Wee FM News that the current drought situation is also affecting his animals.
