A source who is close to the deceased said, Gabriel complained about not feeling well two days before his body was discovered.
In response to his death, the New National Party sent out a press release. It said, “NNP Caretaker for the constituency of Carriacou and Petite Martinique, Mrs. Kindra Mathurine-Stewart together with the Executive body and the entire NNP family take this opportunity to extend their condolences to the family and friends of Mr. John ‘Barber’ Gabriel, a true stalwart of the NNP movement and former member of the Constituency Executive.
Mr Gabriel, not only served as a party member, but also contributed to the holistic development of the Sister Isles of Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
It is with regret that we have to embrace such a sad day.
