A number of measures will soon be rolled out to ensure the long-term viability of Grenada’s coconut industry.
That’s according to Minister of State with responsibility for Agriculture Senator Adrian Thomas, these measures will also form part of Grenada’s 50th Anniversary of Independence Celebrations.
Details on moving the sector forward was disclosed at the opening ceremony of the Regional Coconut Training and Exhibition at the Grenada Trade Centre yesterday.
Among the strategies on the drawing board is a National Coconut Festival bringing together partners within the industry from the farmer to the agri-business affiliates and consumers.
Agriculture Minister Thomas says he hopes to see a major turnaround of the industry within a five year time frame.
