Medical Teams From Mexico And United States To Help Grenada Fight Covid

With Grenada grappling to deal with the first true wave here of the Coronaviorus, we hear that medical teams from Mexico and the United States are due in the country to help.

A pronouncement made by Health Minister, Nikolas Steele, speaking today on MTV’s regular Perspectives Programme with Brenda Baptiste.

They are to help strengthen the local health system cope with the impact of the pandemic that has, among other things, caused the deaths of 55 people.

The three doctors and nurse practitioners from Mexico come as a result of a bilateral arrangement country, while the medical practitioners from the US are under a programme being coordinated by US-based Grenadian, Dr. Phillip Bonaparte.

Steele noted that over the “no movement” weekends, health teams have had their morale boosted with additional help they received from volunteers.

He says the teams coming in today will definitely be a booster, already having a wealth of experience in dealing with the COVID situation.

Steele went on to say that activities of the public during the “no movement” weekends have helped encourage the health workers considerably.
