Men On Drug Charges

Three persons have been arrested by Police in relation to the discovery of a quantity of cannabis.

It’s reported that around 2 o’clock yesterday morning

Officers attached to the Drug Squad Unit intercepted a Blue and Silver Suzuki Escudo vehicle along the Grand Anse Valley Roadway and conducted a search, which revealed a quantity of controlled drugs.

The Cannabis weighed one hundred and seventy-six pounds and carries an estimated street value of three hundred and ninety-nine thousand, one hundred and sixty-eight dollars.

As a result of this, Keron Straker, a 31-year-old, Chef of Grand Anse Valley, St. George; Tyrell Barry, 30 years, an Assistant Chef of Morne Fendue, St. Patrick and Learn Charles, a Fisherman of Brighton Village, St. Vincent and the Grenadines were arrested and are presently assisting police with investigations.

The vehicle was also impounded.

An additional charge may be preferred against the Vincentian national who entered the State of Grenada illegally.

The RGPF report says one of the men also tested positive for Covid19.

In an unrelated matter, Nya-zani David and Victor Vesprey who were charged in connection with the discovery of one hundred and fourteen pounds of Cannabis last Saturday were remanded to custody at Her Majesty’s Prisons, following a drug bust at Ratton Beach, St. Patrick.

Further to this seizure, Chrispin Ramdeen, a Carpenter of Snell Hall, St Patrick, and Anthony Jones, also a Carpenter of Requin, St David, were arrested and charged Wednesday for Trafficking in a Controlled Drug, following the discovery of nine pounds of Cannabis that was connected to a previous seizure Saturday 8th January, 2022.

They appeared at the Sauteurs Magistrate’s Court today and were remanded to Her Majesty’s Prisons.

All five men are scheduled to re-appear at the Sauteurs Magistrate’s Court January 25.
