Its three days into the start of the 2024 Atlantic Hurricane season which ends officially on November 30.
Professional and experienced forecasters have predicted that the 2024 Hurricane Season will be hyper-active, meaning that the number of named storms will be way above average.
All the reputable forecast organizations agree that in 2024, the prediction is for more than 20 named storms.
NADMA co-coordinator Dr. Terence Walters in a message to the nation marking the start of the hurricane season says while the predictions for 2024 indicate that it will be extremely active, there’s no guarantee that Grenada will be either impacted or spared.
Dr. Walters says the impact of one storm or hurricane is all it takes to change the circumstances for the country.
Dr. Walters indicated that Government continues to take proactive steps to enhance the National Disaster Management Agency and by extension the National Disaster Management Organization.
